Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
Just watched a documentary about this on BBC.

It ended nearly 200 years ago FFS

Jackie Walker and more recently Wiley had some interesting points to make about it

Personally no I do not. The British Empire as whole was a tyranny but we lost it all fighting tyranny alone at first, Thats evens for me

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
No more than the average muslim or black African - they facilitated it for Europeans, practised prior and perpetuated it after 'us' to today

So in a few words, could not give a shit about it

I don't feel guilty as such, but I'm all for helping the former slave colonies to develop economically, including accepting them as migrants.

I'd rather be a slave than a cunt, like Young Woody.

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
it's a funny one. like the other colonial powers, imperial britain exploited the african culture of chattel slavery to previously unimaginable degrees and made untold profits off it, but also effectively banished it from both africa and the modern world at great cost to itself (even if the yanks took a while to follow through).

history is a double edged sword.

Anyone feeling guilty about events that long ago is an attention seeking cunt wallowing in victimhood on someone else's behalf.

I don’t and never do feel guilty about anything. It doesn’t exist for me.

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
I can't feel guilty about something which happened before I was alive. I think it's good for people to be educated about what went on, the impact and how it has shaped where we are today.
That said there are still many forms of slavery going on today in this country which isn't being eradicated using illegal workers, those in desperate situations and children.
We also seem to turn a blind eye to other countries exploiting people openly so maybe the focus is in the wrong place.

No need for any of us to feel guilty when the two cunts pretending to be 'royals from Sussex' spend every other day doing it on our behalf.

What do you know of the Barbary Pirates then?
Don't hear too many banging on about that

And that is just for starters

"It ended nearly 200 years ago FFS".

Not in many of the places I've worked for over the last 25 years.

Some cultures still love a good bunch of slaves to do their every bidding. Big status symbol.

That the developed world keeps poorer nations so poverty stricken that slavery is seen as the only viable option for many speaks volumes.

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
I have always been very proud of the role that Britain played in the abolition of the slave trade.

Slavery isn't just something that white Europeans did to black Africans. People from every corner of the world did it to others.

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
Why would you feel guilty about something you had nothing to do with?

It was endemic around the world anyway. Africans themselves have had slaves since ancient times.

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
The Roman galleys had slaves to row them, including many Britons, along with every other aspect of their society. Should we also feel guilty for that?

Re: Anybody on here feel guilty about slavery?
Not sure why someone would apologise or feel guilty for something that they didn’t personally do. For something that happened before they were alive, and apologise or show remorse to people now who weren’t slaves ..... chip, shoulder,
